Late Rally Lift Perfectos

(SAINT LOUIS  APRIL 6, 2013)  The Unions kicked off their 10th season with a visit to layfayette park to face their old nemisis the Perfectos. The Perfectos play perfect hosts allowing the Unions to scratch out a 4-1 lead after 5 frames. Unions leftfield scout, Noodles scored the years first run.

Noodles and Beans both had a four hit day. In the field newest Union Chad, the classic player to be named later, looked like an old vintage base ball pro playing shortstop as well as left field. The Unions looked to be on track for their first win, but after the Perfectos loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh, the wheels came off.

The Perfectos batter Chatterbox couldn’t be shut up as his hit brought home the tying run. A keystone cop play on a Perfecto pop up then doomed the visitors giving up the lead. The second match saw the Unions again tallying 4 scores but with better results.

Fine defense helped Unions pitchers Knapsack and Grizzly shutout the Perfectos 4-0.  A couple of double plays helped to stymie the Perfetos. With both clubs taking away a win everyone left happy.
