(KIRKWOOD, MO) JULY 13, 2013  - The Unions are on a roll. 15-10 and 16-12 victories over the St. Louis Brown Stockings on Saturday boosted the JB Nine’s record to 16-7-1 heading into their trip to Rochester, MN the last weekend of July. In a back and forth opener, down 10-9, the Unions struck for six aces in the top of the 7th inning to gain a 15-10 advantage and hold on for the game one win.

The JB Nine increased on their count in the afternoon cap in another see-saw contest that saw the Unions having to come back late from a deficit. Matt ‘Mayhem’ Moushey (5-for-6, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, game-winning RBI) and Matt ‘Scoops’ Lurk (5-for-6, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) paced the Unions’ offense in the opening win.  Mike ‘Part-Time’ Ashley (3-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 runs, RBI), and Jeremy ‘Grizzly’ Murrish (4-for-5, run, 3 RBIs) were the hitting stars in the afternoon cap and setting the tone for the JB Nines’s fourth consecutive victory.

John ‘Knapsack’ Mena and Grizzly each earned a win from the hurler’s box.  Despite the Browns two losses Knapsack was impressed.  ”They are a great hitting club.  Law Dog and Lightning just smack the heck out of the ball.  And the two new young players are great additions. ”

The Unions will be back in action the weekend of July 27-28 as they travel to Rochester, MN to face some of the Gopher State’s finest vintage ballclubs.
